Buying Hair Extensions: How to Choose a Specialist

Before buying hair extensions, ask the supplier or fitting specialist to explain the product and the service you are purchasing. Clear specifications and practical advice are more useful than an unsupported “best quality” label.

Ask about the hair and its construction

Confirm whether the product is 100% human hair, synthetic fibre or a blend. Compare length, weight, piece count, attachment type and density through the ends. Check evidence behind certifications and sourcing claims

If certification, factory standards or sourcing practices affect your decision, ask for current documentation and what it actually covers. A certificate about workplace systems does not by itself establish the composition, performance or suitability of a hair extension product. Do not infer details about donors, processing or manufacturing from a general marketing description.

Assess the fitting service

Ask about the specialist’s experience with your chosen method, examples of their own work, consultation process, weight selection, removal and maintenance. Explain any scalp concerns, active shedding or recent hair damage before considering a fitting. No extension method is suitable for everyone.

Confirm support and costs
