The answer depends more on total weight and placement than on the number of pieces alone. Fine hair generally benefits from avoiding unnecessary extension weight and repeated tension on the same small sections.
A lighter complete set or carefully positioned sections may be appropriate for some clients, while others may be better served by targeted thickening pieces. If your natural hair is very fine, fragile or actively thinning, get individual advice before adding weight.
