By Nicole Zerafa, Original Diva Hair Extensions, Hunters Hill Sydney. Updated 2 October 2026.
Clip-in human hair extensions add removable length and volume without a salon fitting. Small clips attach the hair to your own hair, then release when you take the pieces out. Original Diva supplies 100% human, silicone-free clip-ins across Australia, with free colour matching and one-on-one support from Nicole.
The right set depends on your starting length, natural density, colour and how much extra hair you want. Compare our clip-in hair extensions available in Australia, or use this guide to understand the differences before choosing.
What are clip-in human hair extensions?
Clip-ins are wefts of extension hair with small pressure-sensitive clips. You open each clip, position the weft against a section of natural hair and close the clip to hold it in place. They are removable rather than a permanent fitting. Watch our clip-in application video for sectioning, placement and blending.
Human hair can be washed and styled with appropriate care. Original Diva specifies 100% human hair with no silicone coating or synthetic blend. Follow the care instructions, use heat protection when heat-styling and remove clip-ins before sleeping. Durability depends on wear frequency, washing, heat, storage and care.
Clip-in or permanent extensions: which should you choose?
| What to compare | Clip-in extensions | Tape, micro ring or weft extensions |
|---|---|---|
| Attachment | Removable clips; applied and removed at home | Professional assessment, fitting and removal |
| When you wear them | Choose the occasions or days you want extra hair | Stay fitted between maintenance appointments |
| Care | Remove before sleeping; wash and store as directed | Method-specific aftercare and regular maintenance |
| Pricing | Box Sets $290–$410; One-Piece / Three-Piece Set $350; Thickening Pieces $90–$200 | Depends on the method, amount of hair and fitting requirements |
| Suitability | Depends on natural hair density, clip placement and weight | Depends on natural hair condition, method, weight and maintenance |
Compare the tape, weft and micro ring range if you want professionally fitted hair. Clips are not a permanent attachment, and no method is suitable for everyone. If your hair is fragile or too sparse to conceal and support the attachments, ask for an assessment before buying.
How to choose a clip-in set: length, weight and pieces
Every current Original Diva Short to Long Box Set is 20 inches long. The options differ in total hair weight and the number of pieces, not hair length. All listed Box Set colours are offered across these three options:
| Box Set | Hair length | Pieces | Price (AUD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 120g | 20 inches | 5 | $290 |
| 150g | 20 inches | 6 | $350 |
| 180g | 20 inches | 8 | $410 |
View the Short to Long Clip-In Box Set for the current shade choices. Compare grams as well as pieces: a heavier set supplies more hair, but it still needs to blend with your own hair and be supported comfortably.
For flexible placement, the 130g One-Piece / Three-Piece Set supplies 20-inch hair for $350 and can be worn as one connected piece or three rows. It uses clips rather than a halo wire. For targeted volume, 20-inch Thickening Pieces come in 30g / 2-piece, 60g / 4-piece and 90g / 6-piece packs.
Colour matching and blending
Do not choose a shade from a screen alone if you are unsure. Send clear photos of your hair in natural daylight through our free online colour matching service. Nicole can help compare your colour, starting length and natural density with the available options. Matching the mid-lengths and ends matters for the finished blend, especially when your hair contains highlights or more than one tone.
Buying online in Australia or getting help in Sydney
Original Diva dispatches online orders from Sydney to every state and territory in Australia. Standard shipping is free on qualifying orders of $150 or more; see delivery timeframes and returns before ordering. Products and salon fitting are separate services, so check whether a quoted price is for hair alone or includes fitting.
If you prefer an in-person assessment, Nicole offers consultations by appointment at the private Hunters Hill salon. See hair extensions in Sydney for the methods and local service details. You can also compare the before-and-after gallery and our Australian clip-in buyer guide.
Frequently asked questions
Are clip-in human hair extensions suitable for fine hair?
Fine hair can need careful placement and a conservative amount of extension hair. The 120g Box Set is a 20-inch, 5-piece option, while Thickening Pieces allow targeted placement. Neither is automatically suitable for every fine-haired client. Ask Nicole to assess your density, condition and the coverage needed to conceal the clips.
Can clip-in extensions be worn permanently?
Clip-ins are designed to be removed. Take them out before sleeping and follow the care instructions. If you want extensions that stay fitted between salon visits, compare professionally fitted tape, weft or micro ring methods and their maintenance requirements.
How long do clip-in hair extensions last?
There is no single lifespan for every wearer. Washing, heat styling, wear frequency and storage affect the hair. Remove tangles gently, follow the care instructions and store the pieces dry.
Which is the best clip-in set for me?
Compare the attachment design, 20-inch length, total gram weight, colour match and your natural hair. The heaviest set is not automatically the best choice. Use the current clip-in range to compare specifications, then request a free colour match if you need help.
